Yes. When using the Card Reader , your smartphone or tablet needs to be connected to a 3G, 4G, or WiFi network.


For the Terminal, you connect to an available WiFi network. It automatically switches over to 3G or 4G if WiFi is out of range. A pre-loaded SIM card is included and pre-installed at no cost.*


*Provision of hardware and SIM card is subject to our delivery terms. Note: The SIM card can only be used in the PayPal Terminal and not in any other device.

The Card Reader and Terminal accepts contactless and card payments as well as transactions with mobile wallets such as Apple, Samsung, and Google Pay.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, Diners Club, Discover, Maestro, Visa Electron, and V pay. For more details, please read the accepted cards page.

You have a 12-month warranty period beginning on the date your order was shipped. This goes for all products in our store. During this period, PayPal warrants that the device will be free of material defects that prevents its normal operation.

The Terminal comes with a multi-voltage power adapter. Plug it in with the provided USB-C cable and get it fully charged in about 2 hours. You can also keep a constant charge by docking it to the Printer & Dock for Terminal.

The Terminal currently only runs the PayPal Point of Sale App. We support many integrations to other POS providers when using Card Reader, which you can read about on our integrations page.

The Terminal can be connected to PayPal-supported printers provided that it’s on the same network as the printer.

Cash drawers can be connected via PayPal-supported printers.

The Terminal can’t be connected to other barcode scanners. If you need a barcode scanner, consider our Terminal with Barcode Scanner.
