Getting started with the Zettle Terminal
The Zettle Terminal is a device that runs the Zettle POS app and takes card payments.
With this all-in-one device there’s no need to use both a phone/tablet and a separate card reader.
If you want to manage your products (upload pictures, add barcodes, etc.), log into your Zettle POS on a laptop or tablet, and your changes will sync with the Terminal automatically.
How do I turn on the Terminal?
Press the power button on the top of your Terminal. Follow the on-screen instructions if you’re using it for the first time.
During the initial setup of your Terminal, you need to be connected to a WiFi network. After the initial setup, you can use the SIM card alone (subject to network availability and connectivity).
If your Terminal isn’t turning on:
- Make sure it's charged. Plug in the charging cable and power adapter provided. When the Terminal is properly connected, you’ll hear a sound.
- Try long pressing on the power button.
How do I turn off the Terminal?
Press the power button on the top of your Terminal. You’ll see two options: Power off or Restart.
How do I force restart my Terminal:
- Long press the power button for about 10 seconds and the Terminal will restart.
- If step one didn’t work, insert a pin into the little hole located on the right-hand side of your Terminal to cut the power. You can then press the power button again to turn it on.
Why am I seeing a message about restarting my Terminal?
Your Terminal needs to restart every 24 hours and perform a self-test to ensure that it’s running as it should.
You can change the time of the daily restart:
- Go to your Home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap General and then Daily restart.
- Set the new time.
How do I charge the Terminal?
- Connect the USB-C cable to the charging port on the Terminal’s right-hand side
- Connect the USB-C cable to the adapter and plug it into a power outlet
- The battery symbol in your status bar will indicate that the Terminal is charging
You can charge your Terminal using the USB-C cable and power adapter included in your box.
If your Terminal isn’t charging:
- Make sure that your Terminal is correctly connected to the USB-C cable and adapter provided in your starter pack
- When the Terminal is properly connected, you’ll hear a sound and see the charging battery symbol in the status bar if the Terminal is on
How do I change the language?
During the initial setup, you’ll be asked to select a language. This can be changed later in the Terminal settings:
- Go to your home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap General and then Language.
How do I change the location?
During the initial setup, you’ll be asked to select a location. This can be changed later in the Terminal settings:
- Go to your home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap General and then Location.
When you change the location, it’ll automatically affect the date and time of your Terminal.
How do I change the date and time?
- Go to your home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap General and toggle off Set automatically.
How do I adjust the volume?
- Go to your home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap Sound and drag the slider until you’re satisfied with the sound level.
How do I adjust the brightness of the screen?
- Go to your home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap Display and drag the slider until you’re satisfied with the brightness level.
You can also pull down the panel from the top of your screen to access the brightness slider.
